During this mountain biking day, we will visit the Kumari temple (living goddess), Hanuman Dhoka (former royal palace), Kasthmandap, Ashok Binayak, Pashupatinath temple, Maru Tole, Maju Deval and Bhagwati temple. We will take the paved road via Chhetrapati in the direction of Swayambhunath, one of the holy places of buddhism in the world.
The Stupa is colloquially known as the monkey temple because of the large tribes of monkeys guarding the temple. It was build around 4th century.
Before that, we will have visited Durbar Square in the center of Kathmandu. Then we will head for the ancient royal city of Patan, including the temple of Krishna, for lunch.
From there, we will ride 20 minutes to reach Pashupatinath, one of the holy places of Hindou religion. The temple itself is not accessible to non-Hindus. On the other hand, its sublime surroundings are freely accessible. You may be able to attend the process of purification and cremation during ritual funerals on the Bagmati River, a tributary of the Ganges. It’s a shocking moment for all those who attended.
Finally, we will go in the northeast of Kathmandu in Boudhanath, one of the most impressive asian stupas rebuilt just at the end of 2016. Monks, nuns and believers crowd to pray and recite mantras.
